Welcome to the 2nd Annual New York City high school newspaper awards - The Newsies! The competition is open to all NYC public high schools.

1. Deadline - Entries must be submitted by Sept. 23, 2011. BONUS: Entries that are received by June 30, 2011, will receive feedback from a professional journalist or Baruch College or CUNY Graduate journalism faculty member.

2. Format - Entries will only be accepted electronically, through this form. Articles should be submitted as PDFs. Photos can be submitted as TIFF or JEPG files. Web links to the articles or photos are also permitted - and encouraged. If you can only submit the entire newspaper PDF - as opposed to the individual article/photo - please indicate on which page the entry is.

3. Submit – Please name all files like this: Category-StudentLastName-SchoolName. For example, if you were to upload an article by Nancy Rodriguez from Manhattan Art and Tech High School on bed bugs in the Netherlands, you’d name the file “WorldNews-Rodriquez-ManhattanArtTech."

4. There is no entry fee. Free!

5. Limitations - Only one entry is permitted per category for each school.Only one article can be entered per category. If the article is a collaboration, more than one student's name can be submitted. There is no limit on the number of times an individual student may be nominated in different categories. All entries must have been published in a school newspaper or website between Sept. 2010-Sept. 2011.

6. Please note that by submitting entries to this contest, your school is agreeing to send representatives to the 2011 High School Journalism Conference on Wed. Oct. 26. AND students are giving permission for their work to be published online and/or in print through Baruch College and with Baruch partners in relationship to The Newies!

7. Awards - Awards will be announced at the 8th Annual High School Journalism Conference at Baruch College on Wed., Oct. 26, 2011.
